I am on a roll!

Posted by Fi on December 9, 2009

I have finished the Hanne Falkenberg Lascala scarf. It is everything I expected it to be; longer than a long thing  (must be almost 10 feet), very warm, so very pretty, and I’m glad I did the fringe!.

So to celebrate here are some truly bad pictures of my Christmas tree modelling it. First up ‘scarf as tinsel’:

Oh, and there just under the table you can see ‘The Knitter’ magazine (issue 12). How this has got to 12 issues without me knowing about it is beyond me, but then we have only just got a WH Wmith (hooray!). But I might subscribe, it has good articles and more grown up patterns than ‘Let’s Knit’ (even though I did like that for a while). I digress.

Close up of slipped stitch pattern and baubles:

And finally here’s the fringe (‘Fringe with edge of Tree’). Each colour change on this scarf entailed a new start leaving a long yarn tail, and then a chopping off of yarn for the fringe, which is what I think made this such a slow knit (that and the hour of tying fringe knots ‘just so’). But with such lovely results, I can’t complain!:

In the next few days, there will be news of hats (finally, one that suits me – but has given me ideas about the Tam’o'shanters I could modify) and small mittens. I am on a roll.

Oh, that’s stunning. It looks woven, not knitted. Hope it is for you and not going to be given away. I’d be thoroughly selfish if I’d made it! :-)
